KITSILANO

A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE

KITSILANO affectionately known  as “Kits” is one of Vancouver’s most beloved neighbourhoods.  After WWII this part of Vancouver became known for it’s mellow, beachy and dare I say, hippy vibe that attracted a  young demographic to Vancouver.  Some of the first yoga studios, vegetarian restaurants and organic markets in Canada were born here and the perception of Vancouver’s physically active community first thrived in Kitsilano.  Yoga culture and Vancouver’s famously laid back culture derived from the streets of Kits and is still evident today.

Great Places to Check Out

  • Vanier Park
  • Kitsilano Beach
  • HR MacMillan Space Centre
  •  Museum of Vancouver
  • Vancouver Maritime Museum
  •  Kitsilano Pool
  • Fantastic shopping and dinning on West 4th Ave and W. Broadway

Today Kits is a beloved modern, relaxed and sophisticated beach side community that attracts modern professionals and families alike.  Excellent shopping, dinning and amenities along West 4th and the Broadway corridor make this area a walker’s paradise and are an important transit link for the city. The property values in this area are some of the highest in the province, in fact the Kits mansion of Lululemon’s founder is BC’s most expensive property.  Low rise apartments and townhouses feature prominently around the famous Kits beach and Vanier Parks. Older craftsman style homes have been converted into multi family dwellings in this area, along with new townhomes. Further away from the beach, single detached homes and California style bungalows make up charming tree lined streets. Along the Broadway and West 4th corridors, modern apartments and urban lofts can be found.

The Future for Kitsilano will be one of great change and development. The BC province will be spending over $2.8 billion on the Broadway Subway which will link UBC to the Vancouver core. Kitsilano will have it’s own station, the Arbutus Station.

Two massive highrise projects, Concord Quantum Park and Senákw, have been  announced for the area, which will bring in another 9,000 homes in the next ten to fifteen years.
