Ambleside

Ambleside-West Vancouver

Ambleside is located in West Vancouver, just a short drive from Park Royal Shopping Centre and Lions Gate Bridge. The area from 13 St. to 19 St. and Fullerton Ave. down to the waterfront considered Ambleside. It is famous for its beach and seawall. The beach is easily accessible with parking just across and playground, pick nick tables. A favourite spot for the locals to visit during weekends and summer time. The main road is Marine Drive that runs across the area and it is the commercial core of the area. Many restaurants, speciality stores, offices, medial service providers are located here. The waterfront favourite restaurants are: Earls, The Boatshed, Ancora, Crema Cafe and many other shops.

Did you know that in the early 1800s, Ambleside was already the main commercial centre of the community of West Vancouver? In 1886, "Navvy" Jack Thomas initiated the first ferry service between Vancouver and West Vancouver via the Ambleside waterfront, which lasted only one year. But this started a development in the area that continued in the 1900's by John Lawson. This resulted in much development in Ambleside as well as the neighbouring Dundarave and Hollyburn neighbourhoods. The last ferry crossing from Ambleside was in 1947, after which the pier was repurposed into an area for fishing purposes. Today Ambleside is a walkable area with high rises closer to the water and single detached family homes on the upper areas. Many offers wonderful water views. Convenient for seniours and families with kids, this area has the extra bonus of being close to the beach and downtown Vancouver. We would be happy to find you the perfect home, or give more information,.
